Elementalist - Staff isn't meta but is definitely ranged. Scepter allows a bit of ranged but I only see it on tempest which wants to be in melee for overloads. Hammer on Catalyst is technically a bit ranged but probably not a good idea. Necro - Others have already pointed this one out quite a bit. The damage you do is really about the gear that you wear and different traits you pick. The DPS in this game usually wear Berserker (strike) or Viper (conditions) gear. Nearly every profession can use both to great effect on at least 1 build. So, if I were to give a short breakdown of each, in no particular order.
TL,DR: For me, guardian is stronger and more versatile, can go pretty much anywhere and work in every game mode. Warrior is more niche, but I find it more fun to play. Long version: I have about 150 hrs on Guard and Rev, and recently started playing War with about 40 hours now.
Ranger: longbow, shortbow, mainhand axe, and war horn are all ranged weapons and powerful options. Thief: scepter specter is very meta and ranged. Deadeye has pistols and rifle as well, but not super meta for group content. Engineer: rifle engineer is exceptionally powerful and simple to play right now. Like, overpowered level.
Hey. I'm looking for a class/spec which is comfortable to use in solo-play and has some kind of built-in, reliable self sustain. I've played Willbender, Firebrand, Mechanist and Virtuoso before but they didn't really click. I'm not a fan of Renegade and Scourge either. I prefer ranged classes but melee is fine too. Quick and heal brand are both good but dragon hunter is possibly the worst dps spec in pve. I know im going against the grain, but Engineer is probably the best overall class in PvE. I dont think any other class has a heal alac, heal quick, dps alac, dps quick, straight condi dps, straight power dps. 2 Self-Style Hair Kit. Price: 250 for 1; 1,000 for 5. Purpose: Changing the hairstyle for an existing character or accessing premium hairstyles. Fashion is one of the most popular late game activities in Guild Wars 2 and players will likely be bored of their characters' hairs after several hundreds of hours. In the noob stomp tier is also trapper DH, reaper, bladesworn, sic 'em soulbeast, fire weaver, juggernaut mech and more. Mech is definitely at the top of that pile, but everything in that list has a hard counter. Condi clears, condi counters, boon corruption or in bladesworn's case, massive damage to people who don't understand how to counter
All the classes can dps or support in some kind of way. There is no tank or healer per se. The main roles (on pve endgame content) are dps, support. The support class are the tank (if needed) and healers most of the time but also covers important boons, and there is some dps that goes half dps half support too.
